RAC membership in EAC (Editors’ Association of Canada)

Why EAC?

I recently became a member of the Editors’ Association of Canada (EAC). My purpose in joining EAC: • to increase my awareness of professional editorial standards • to raise the bar of effective written communications • to embark on a personal development program of enhanced editing competence.

Here’s the experience you get …

My editing service complements a versatile background in marketing,  management and human resources consulting; document development; training and copy writing. Clients include: international governments and the offshore private sector (projects in 35 and instructed in 20 countries), global technology firms, 20 plus Canadian government departments, the United Nations (U.N. Development Program), professional associations (national/ global) and numerous small/medium sized enterprises. The International Telecommunication Union (U.N./Geneva, Sw.) has published three RAC documents and another is in the reference library of Industry Canada.

Through EAC membership, the ‘document development’ pillar of RAC marketing inc. (www.racmarketing.com) and the speech writing and ‘Life’s Journeys’ of Podium Memories (www.podiummemories.ca) are being enhanced with the EAC membership.

RAC services to clients …

Clients benefit from the following editing skills: proofreading, structural editing, mechanics of style, copy editing, and rewriting. In addition, copy writing services with emphasis for a call to action and complete A-Z composition.

The following (not limited to) are categories of interest and specialization:

• business, marketing and sales plans  • corporate marketing collateral • event (e.g. annual meetings) summaries  • human resources and training documents (e.g. leader’s guide and student’s manual)  • global trade strategies  • technology papers  • embassy/consulate documents, speeches and exhibits.

Make me your first reader …

Make an editor your first reader, before material is released, to ensure clarity, avoid ambiguity and to project that vital positive image. Revising and re-issuing incorrect internal and marketplace communications wastes precious resources and costs money. Get it right the first time.
