On Saturday, May 22, 2010, the ’Unveiling’ of Winnie and Ted Walters 65th anniversary commemorative wall plaque took place at Winnie’s home in Ottawa, complete with lots of bubbly Champaign! From their WWII RCAF Québec City training base introduction in 1941, through to their present-day retirement in Ottawa, Winnie and Ted’s lives together are described and preserved for future generations. Sadly, Ted passed away before he could see this tribute. But, we know he is looking down and smiling! Note the symbols in the top left corner. Ted was a navigator on Dakota DC3s in The Battle of Burma and was awarded The Medal of Burma. Winnie worked the vintage switchboard and was the receptionist at the military base when they met. The tribute plaque is 24” x 15”, laminated, with a medite cherrywood frame.
